Find your voice!

I've been singing in choirs, musical theater, and other settings my whole life and I've been doing vocal lessons and coaching since 2000! I always had a wide range, and was forced by my high school choir teacher to sing baritone when I was actually a soprano. My vocal journey has been complex and exciting, and I wasn't truly happy until I embraced my identity and pursued music that made me feel like I had a voice. Now, I perform baritone through alto regularly while sometimes even dabbling in bass and soprano! While I can't promise you can achieve the exact range you have in your dreams, I can help you explore your whole voice and make strives toward being happy and feeling powerful/beautiful/dainty/insert-your-desired-adjective-here in the voice you have and develop.

Learn about my vocal journey

Read some of the testimonials from my students below.

Mara (they/them): Professor Cayari was nothing but supportive about my wants as a performer. I identify as non-binary and am working to make it as a musical theatre artist. I expressed early on that I am only comfortable playing and learning music for masculine-presenting characters. I was never questioned or judged, only uplifted by Cayari and encouraged to pursue my passion. He would always find new music and songs to fit preferences.  Not only was Cayari able to provide this support, but their extensive knowledge on trans voices was particularly helpful in navigating healthy vocal technique.

Grayson (he/him): I used to be afraid that going on testosterone would make me lose my ability to sing. With Chris, I was able to learn new strategies that helped me both connect with my body while singing as well as support my mix voice. I’ve seen many voice teachers before, but none of them have been able to provide me with tools specific to my trans body— Chris was extremely helpful in helping me understand my voice as it continues to evolve, and it was very encouraging to see tangible results as I worked with them. As a person, Chris is great company and a joy to work with.

Leo Monts (he/him): I worked with Chris while recording my pop/rock album, and their patience and expertise helped me produce work that I can be proud of. I still keep their vocal advice in mind to this day, about 6 years later. Chris helped me find "the most Leo voice we could find"!
